A Community I Love

I live in a small community named Myrtlewood, Al. In the Myrtlewood community you can feel the love in this small area. We all have grown up and have gone to school with someone’s sister or brother. When the April 27th tornado came through and destroyed an area two miles from my home, as a community we pulled up our sleeves and did what was necessary to make this family that lost their home and family member feel comfortable. Members in the community that had spare rooms assisted the family in their time of need. We found a house for the family because they wanted to be together due to my neighbor losing her father. She said many times, “I am homeless.” I told her, “Homeless people don’t have me and the love of the community.” I expressed to her that I know how she feel and to her it may seem like its midnight in her life but, all she has to do is just put God first and pray. Even though, we don’t understand just pray and God will provide. I talked to her at church Sunday and she told me that they will be building a new and better home in July of this year. All I could say to her was, “God is good all the time.”

5 Minds for the Future http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLLVYx0IPPU&feature=related
I chose to do the Theory of Multiple Intelligences because it opens up a new way of seeing exactly how each every person thinks. In saying this, it shows that even though each person has a brain or can be identified as intelligent there are different cultures and different intelligences. This also shows that a third of the mind is directed toward creativity. Unthinking, practice, and repetition are said to be the area where a lot of learning takes place.
Questions
1. What is your I.Q.?
2. Who is Howard Gardner?
3. What does I.Q. really mean when it comes to the intelligence of the mind?
4. What future do you get from having a disciplined mind?
5. What is a synthesized mind?

Ted S. Hasselbring, Candyce H. Williams Glaser Vol. 10. No. 2-

Fall/winter 2000. This article give you the roles computer

Technology play in education children with special needs in a classroom.

Children of this generation are called the digital age. Because of the influx

new computer-based technologies that links you to the worldwide culture.

Government officials state that it is very important to have technology in

public school. Many workplaces are using computer on the job. Children

have different kinds of disability. There are one of six students across the

United State do not have traditional education because they are disable.

Some of the disabilities are speech, language impairments to mental

retardation and half having a specific learning disability due to a

psychological disorder. Half the students with problems are males. Most are

in Middle and elementary schools. Some have emotional, social, or

behavioral and academic problem. The federal government mandates that

children with special needs must have a program to help these needs. The

education need is a call least restrictive environment. These children must

be in a regular classroom. Another approach is called full inclusion. The

technological in the classroom help the special need for children to keep up

in class. It help the teacher to be able to communicate better with her students. Research said there are benefits to using computer in

the classroom for special needs of children. Students get skills

and content knowledge from the computer. Teacher use internet,

communication technologies, CD-Rome reference material, and

Multimedia presentation tool site help students with special needs.

The teacher used word processing software to help student with mild

learning problems. Here are some software that help with special

needs students, word prediction software, communication

technologies for hearing impairment example: video caption and captioned

educational programs. Devices to help students with hearing problems,

hearing aide, frequency modulated audio loops. There are technologies

for students with visual problem are screen reader and Braille note taker

Do students Respect Intellectual property? Copyright 2008

Jennifer attended a conference on copyright. She though all the

material used in school was “fair to use”. After the conference she

realize she had violated the rights of the artist. Ms. Jennifer did some

research on property rights laws for school in Germany. Her students in

the 9th grade did a project about copyrighted material was,” get

permission first“. (International Society For Technology in Education).

Ms. Jennifer introduce issues to her students about the limited knowledge

she know about copyright laws. There are misuse of intellectual property

that compared it to stealing physical objects. The example society give is

a child goes into a store and steal a candy bar. There was no legal action

taking because the child didn’t know what he was doing. Once the police

talked to the child and the child said he was sorry. The law drop the

charges. Jennifer said this is the mind set of people and students. If I get

caught I will be ignore by the law. After the project was done the students

understood the important of getting permission for use of pictures, videos,

and music that they use in public domain. The next year Ms. Janesko had

training on intellectual property rights for all of the teachers. The goals was

to make sure the teacher could teach the students about literacy so the students can make responsible decisions on the use of media

in the classroom projects. The curriculum used was to discuss

identified different types of licenses, ownership issues, and

practiced reviewing projects. The teachers and the students had

more respect for the law. I enjoyed reading this article it was a learning

project for me.

Summary

This article gave you several views on the misuse of intellectual property

right laws used by the schools. Many teachers do not have the training

to help students know the ethic right o the author, video, and any person

material you use that is not yours. You must ask for permission to use

other people work. You can go to jail for not getting permission. Young

people must realize this is a serious problem. This is why Jennifer and the

other wanted you to know the negative consequences for taking credit when

you use someone else work. Children learn through model from teacher and

parents. In this article Jennifer and Tammy gave training on Intellectual

Property Right Laws. These lady started an curriculum to help the students

understand ownership issues, identified different types of licenses, and

practiced reviewing terms of the use agreements. After completing the

project student took copyright issues very serious. This class taught them
to make responsible decisions on legal matter concern the public

domain.

My though Question

If teacher do not clearly understand about copyright issues. How

can they teach the students.
