Personal Story

My personal story is I feel that education is very important. I worked a full time job and went to school at night to better my life. The experience that I received while attending school has made me aware of how important education is, and you are never too old to get an education. Now it all has paid off and I am a Pre-School teacher and is working on getting my Masters in Early and Elementary Education.

5 Available Resources for Pre-K Math

Some of the resources that I use for my classroom are fundamental CD’s which are used for phonics, speech, alphabets and rhyming. Building blocks are used to help them learn the order of the alphabets as well as counting, and build different shapes. The use of play doe is essential to help build fine motor skills such as squeezing, rolling, and patting. Crayons are used to draw pictures, color them and help to identify their colors. Picture books are used to help the students recognize shapes, words, and parts of the book.

My Question/Answer

Why would a mother kill her child?
I feel there is really no answer to it but I can speculate. Some people may say that a mother may kill her child because they are selfish and others are cowards. To me it all comes from pure ignorance and mental disturbance. Case and point: the Casey Anthony trial that has been going on for three years is the perfect example. To me it seems that she suffers from a psychotic state of mind where everything has to be all about her. When the child was born maybe she felt that all the attention she was once receiving was now being directed towards the child she snapped mentally.

Current News Event

This case started June 16, 2008. On June 16th Caylee Anthony became missing. The mother said she was with the babysitter, and police talked to the nanny and said that the lady had never seen Caylee or Casey because she didn’t know them. Then she said that the little girl had drowned and the grandfather had found the child in the pool and then carried the little girl in his arms. The grandfather stated that it was lie. The baby body was found in December of 2008 in a wooded area about two miles from her home in a plastic bag with tape over her mouth. Since the finding of the child all fingers point to the child mother Casey and the case is ongoing now.

Mistake I Made/ What I Learned from It

A mistake I made starting my new job, was thinking that the person I saw as my mentor who offered to help me in what I did not know pertaining to my new job wouldn’t turn their back on me was an understatement. I saw her as my mentor because she had been at this job for about ten years. I was then given her job due to me having a degree; she did not like this because she wanted to be leader in the classroom. She would tell co-workers that we were co. teachers. Because I stayed in my room I did not know of the things she was telling her friends. She wanted to do the attendance, lesson plan, and any other paper she could put her name on as head teacher. There were times when she tried to control what went on in the classroom. I then had to pull her to the side and let her know that we are to work as a team and not against each other because it is all about the children. The thing I learned from this was that you can’t trust people on face value. Also, I learned no matter how nice you are people will try to use you to their advantage; you must stand up for what is right no matter what the situation.

What I Spend My Money On

The way I spend my money has become very intriguing to me. First, I pay my bills at my home water, lights, ECT. Then, I do something special for me such as a pedicure, go out to eat, take a bubble bath and listen to music alone. I also spend my money on high price gas to get back and forth from work and school as well as pay my tuition. I spend my money on my two grandchildren every two weeks and then send them home while their father complains about my spending too much money on them. My response to him is, “I spend MY money!” I then spend my money on a family vacation to Orlando. In the end I realize that I spend my money which is really not mines because I’m basically the overseer.

A Community I Love

I live in a small community named Myrtlewood, Al. In the Myrtlewood community you can feel the love in this small area. We all have grown up and have gone to school with someone’s sister or brother. When the April 27th tornado came through and destroyed an area two miles from my home, as a community we pulled up our sleeves and did what was necessary to make this family that lost their home and family member feel comfortable. Members in the community that had spare rooms assisted the family in their time of need. We found a house for the family because they wanted to be together due to my neighbor losing her father. She said many times, “I am homeless.” I told her, “Homeless people don’t have me and the love of the community.” I expressed to her that I know how she feel and to her it may seem like its midnight in her life but, all she has to do is just put God first and pray. Even though, we don’t understand just pray and God will provide. I talked to her at church Sunday and she told me that they will be building a new and better home in July of this year. All I could say to her was, “God is good all the time.”
